Mindful May with New Balance

In recognition of Mental Health Awareness Month, we organized a special event focused on promoting physical and mental well-being among the young men of Eagle Academy in Queens. The highlight of the event was a yoga session designed to introduce the students to the benefits of mindfulness and physical exercise in managing stress and enhancing mental health.

This event was generously sponsored by New Balance, who not only provided high-quality apparel and fitness equipment for the participants but also customized Yeti bottles to ensure they stayed hydrated. The yoga session was led by Reina Robinson, a professional instructor and member of the New Balance team. Reina guided the boys through a series of poses and breathing exercises aimed at reducing anxiety and improving focus.

In addition to the physical activity, we were honored to have Latisha from Greedi Vegan restaurant join us. She gave an inspiring talk on the importance of healthy eating and how nutrition impacts mental health. Latisha also conducted a live cooking demonstration, showing the boys how to prepare a simple, nutritious meals, and emphasizing the connection between diet and overall well-being.

The event was a holistic approach to mental health, combining physical activity, healthy eating education, and practical demonstrations to equip the young men of Eagle Academy with tools to support their mental health journey.
